don't believe the hype

Here's a very interesting article by Clay Shirky on why the Internet resists all the types of hierarchical structure that we try and impose on it (the structures that work so well for libraries). It gives a great insight on why the Internet is something completely new and different - something that could completely change the world and mark the dawn of a new era.

Well, I'm off to Buffalo tomorrow (13th) and then Arapiles on Monday (14th), returning on Sunday 20th. Am soooo looking forward to it. Going with a couple of buddies who I used to climb with while I was at SydneyUni, they are good fun to climb with and have a great attitude to climbing. Also, I randomly ran into a group of 3 CSU students at the quarry a while back, apparently they will be at Araps until Thursday! So I might do some climbing with them too. Hoping that the weather is reasonably good, the forecast looks good so far - a little rain on Monday/Tuesday then a high pressure system.

Anyway, hopefully I'll scavenge some photos off someone once we get back.
